PRACTICUM
To successfully complete your TEFL/TESOL certification course, we require that each student complete 20 hours of practicum. These practicum hours allow each student to gain practical experience working with real learners at a classroom setting.
In order to complete this professional online class, you would need to have your 20 hours of practicum completed. Practicum hours must consist of observation, teaching or tutoring. Any different training hours do not count towards the 20 practicum hours.We would need proof of practicum completion by your supervisor. You would also have to submit an essay, detailing the practicum experience. We will provide you with all the information that you will need in order to hand in the official course documents for your supervisor to sign.
In order to find a practicum location, you can do a web search for English language classes offered in your community. You can volunteer as an English Teacher either at a language school or institute, language exchange, churches and non profit organizations.You may also find a non-native English speaker to whom you can offer one-on-one tutoring.
We will not assign a practicum for you because of the flexible nature of the course of adapting itself to the personal schedule of each participant and we have students from different parts of the world taking this online class therefore it would be very difficult to assign hours for each busy schedule. Students are free to arrange this teaching hours directly with their supervisor at their home country or country of residence, either on weekdays or weekends. The only requirement is for you to complete the 20 hour practicum and obtain working hands-on with real-life English language learners. You can also teach English on an online context. You can also complete your practicum hours online with volunteer English students online. These hours have to be presented to us with an official document with some specific information. We will provide all these official documentation.
You can start with your practicum hours after having completed chapter 11. If you are an experienced Teacher, you can start with your practicum hours right away, as soon as the online class starts.
The practicum hours do not have to be completed at the same location. Some students prefer to teach the same group of students while others enjoy diversity therefore you can work with different supervisors. The total time of your log in session for the TEFL class is 6 months, therefore you have to complete your practicum during that time, before your session expires.
If you currently teach, your hours can apply toward your practicum as long as you are teaching English skills to non-native English speakers. These classes will count toward your practicum and your supervisor would need to sign the documents in order for us to verify these classes. Please contact us
Regarding supervision documents, we will provide all specific documents for you to hand in to your supervisor, as explained below

- Document to evaluate your teaching skills
- Essay on teaching experience. This is a final assignment.
All these documents have to be signed by your supervisor and sent back to us so that we can issue your diploma.
If you have decided to teach on your own, then your student or students will need to assess you, completing the evaluation form and submitting it to us for final approval. There is no maximum or minimum students you are able to work with, you decide but is has to be at a non native English speaker classroom.
